Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to the final product?
The final documentary is delivered directly to the customer who orders the product. AncestoriesXR does not keep the final MP4 file, nor do we host it on our site—it belongs entirely to you. Additionally, we do not retain any of the personal files or media you upload to us to help build your documentary.
What if information is inaccurate?
Any information provided to us by the customer is the customer’s responsibility. However, we proactively research dates and places for publicly known events. For example, if customer notes state that a loved one was drafted into World War II in 1939, we will reach out for clarification (since the United States did not enter WWII until after the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, unless the individual volunteered with a British or foreign entity).
What happens if a family member objects to the documentary?
It is entirely up to the customer to decide whether to publish the documentary on social media or family tree platforms after delivery. In our intake form, customers explicitly agree and acknowledge that they have the right to provide the family information and materials submitted to us.
How is this different from other family documentary makers?
Many documentary services conduct interviews with family members. While these “talking head” interviews of elders sharing stories have great value, that is not our approach. We are storytellers and filmmakers steeped in PBS-style documentary production, delivering a cinematic, narrative-driven experience.
Can I expand upon the documentary to extend the story?
Absolutely. A short documentary can focus on one specific chapter or family member. Highlighting what happened later to a spouse or descendant can easily form the next chapter. We keep our costs accessible so you can continue building and expanding your family’s legacy over time.
